Transportation accounts for about a quarter of the Nordic countries’ national greenhouse gas emissions. Transforming the entire transport sector is a massive task. In 2020 the Ministers of Nordic Cooperation inititated the Green Transition of the Transport Sector Programme with the aim of enhancing the cross-sectoral collaboration in the Nordic transport sector.
Based on four years of strong interdisciplinary collaboration through the programme, experts across fields have now formulated six recommendations for future sustainable transport cooperation on land, at sea, and in the air. The recommendations highlight six areas of priority for achieving a green transport sector in the Nordic region together, such as expanding energy infrastructure and integrating the social aspect.
