Pressing issues
The rapid technological developments in the energy sector have solved many challenges, but there are still pressing issues that require innovative solutions. Challenges such as the energy trilemma, tomorrow’s energy solutions, green transition, and sustainable remote energy systems, among others, form the starting point for any proposal. Nordic Energy Research is looking for projects that address these challenges and contribute to the transition towards a sustainable and integrated region.
The proposed solutions should not only provide recommendations for policymakers and the energy sector but also create a knowledge base that can guide a swift and successful transition to carbon neutrality. We believe that combining knowledge, skills, and resources from different areas of expertise and societal institutions is crucial to tackling these challenges effectively.
Five thematic angles
The first research call is organized within five thematic angles: 1) Smart Energy Systems, 2) Sustainable Energy, 3) Green Transport, 4) Energy Markets, and 5) Energy & Society, which are intended to complement national R&D programs and serve the common interest of all Nordic countries. The full call text will be publicized when the call portal opens at the end of April. Webinars will also be held to increase awareness of the call requirements, design, and rules for projects to be funded.
